Ms. Missouri Senior America 2021

CAROLYN SCHLUETER

Carolyn Schlueter is a "farm gal" from Freeburg, IL and a graduate of the elite Miss Hickey's Secretarial School.  A highlight of Carolyn's working career was being executive secretary to August A. (Gussie) Busch Jr., president and CEO of Anheuser-Busch, Inc., until he retired.

She is currently enthusiastically pursuing her three passions in life...photography, music and painting and is an active member of the St. Louis Camera Club, St. Peters Cultural Art Centre and Lake Saint Louis Artist's Association.

Carolyn loves competing in various art competitions and is an award-winning published photographer and watercolor artist.  She recently earned first place in her age group in the large Manchester Arts yearly FOCUS art competition with "Hairy Harry" (pictured bottom left) and also received honorable mention with "Zig Zag At the Botanical Garden" (pictured bottom right) and has three award-winning photos the judges selected for the 2021 Cuivre River Electric Co-Ops annual calendar, receiving best of show with "Skidding In" of the Pelican landing at Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary (pictured bottom center).

Music has always played a big part in Carolyn's life.  In addition to performing in various piano venues in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area, she treasures the memories of performing with the Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra on the oboe.

Another hobby she and her significant other truly enjoyed was competing professionally in Swing Dance Competitions locally and across the country and also just to enjoy the social aspect of dancing.

Carolyn has this beautiful smile that lights up a room when she walks into it and makes the person she is talking with feel like they are the only person in the entire world - plus having the innate ability to turn a negative situation into something positive when talking with people.

She recently painted a beautiful rose and created the lovely bookmark (sidebar right) to commemorate becoming Ms. Missouri Senior America 2021 - a gift she share with all her CAMEO sisters at her coronation.

In addition to volunteering playing piano, Carolyn has also dedicated more than 500 hours to the American Red Cross for their Saturday Morning Coffee Hours at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Hospital.  She continues to entertain at various senior living facilities in the area bringing smiles to residents hearing her play the 'moldy oldies' of their era.

Carolyn is a three-time cancer survivor.  Her faith and positive attitude have courageously carried her through five radiation treatments and 25 chemo sessions at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Peters, MO.   She is  currently cancer free and enjoying life to the fullest!
